I've always loved Emil's. It's one of those cozy little places that doesn't try to be more than it is. However, the past two times I've been there the food was way less than what I'd come to expect. On both occasions the salad went untouched because it was brown and limp. And I'm no food snob here; it looked like it had sat out all night. Also, the alfredo sauce was severely watered down. It didn't even stick to the pasta but rather flowed to the bottom of the dish like a sad little puddle. I don't know if it was just dumb luck to get such abysmal food twice but what it felt like was a restaurant balancing declining profit against the quality of its ingredients. We're going to give it one more shot because for years it was our favorite Italian restaurant in Lansing but there's going to be a limit to our patience. Sorry, had to give two stars this time.
I had an excellent experience. This place has been around for decades, and there is a reason for it! I would love to get some of their recipes.
My husband and I dined at Emil's while in the Lansing area and would definitely return. Our server, Brenda, was a delight and very helpful. And, the food, was the best we have had....the sauce, the bread you could tell was homemade. You get a lot of quality food at reasonable prices.
