I happened to be in Clinton Mi. for the Dionne Warwick Psychic Hotline Fundraiser For Tonedeaf Peruvian Children. The DWPHFFTPC show was great but the only thing greater was the BLT sandwich I enjoyed at Dan's Clinton Tavern. The lettuce was so crisp that had I not known any better, I would have thought Snap, Crackle, and Pop themselves were infused into the sandwich. The bacon was a perfect balance of lean and slightly greasy that even as a devout Muslim I couldn't resist. The tomato was robust and exploding with flavor that I had to ask my girlfriend if my eyes had rolled into the back of my head. The Black and Tan I had was made with perfection, and was the perfect heavy compliment to a light sandwich. The Guiness had a perfect head and the seperation from the Bass Ale solid, Guiness complimenting what otherwise would be a useless Bass Ale. As if anyone drinks Bass ale alone anyhow. The music selection was extensive, and as I watched one of the tonedeaf children I recognized from the Dionne show nod his head irregularly to the beat, I watched one of Dan's waitstaff begin dancing with the child and offering her free desert. In short...I was so impressed with Dan's Clinton Tavern that if I am ever in Clinton again I would as far as to eat one of their sandwichs off there spotless floor. RIGHT ON for knowing how to treat a hungry thirsty passerby. : )
Sincerely,
Carlito A. Haybacker
This place is now known as Dans Clinton Tavern and the changes since the new ownership have been positive. I never went here when it was the old place, but Dans is nice. The place has character + the bartenders and wait staff actually care about your experience.
I like the food and the mixed drinks are not weak like some other places. They have Keno as well. It is right on US-12 (Michigan Avenue) and it sees a lot of Motorcycle traffic in the summer as well as MIS race traffic.
Biker friendly, yet not the least bit trashy.
Bass ale was flat, bacon on BLT was deep fried to a crisp. This was the worst bar food I have ever had.
