I have gotten two tattoos done here and my third is in the works! Great place, both Carissa and Dream do great custom work, and are very comfortable to be around. Everything is kept sterilized and they aren't hesistant to answer any questions you might have. The only advice I can give is that if your appointment is in the summer time, to come a little early because find a parking spot in Saugatuck during the tourist season can be a little bit of a hunt. Overall a great place to get your next (or first!) tattoo!
I would never recommend anyone going to The Crux. I went there since I looked it up on the internet and also I got referred from a former employee and my husband got referred from a co-worker. I called and I asked how late they were open and how much a tongue piercing is, and the lady (Dream) told me the tongue piercing is $40.00 and they were open until 7:00PM on Sundays. The price didn't matter, I was just happy that they were open on Sundays since my husband and I had today off together (which doesn't happen a lot). I drove an hour to get there with my husband and daughter. When we got there we had to wait for them to "page" the piercer twice before he even walked through the door. We waited about 25 minutes to an half hour. When the piercer got there he asked who and what to be pierced, my husband told him I want my tongue pierced. He told my husband and I that he no longer pierces tongues due to too many problems. He tried to offer a nipple/navel piercing. If I go somewhere for a TONGUE PIERCING than why be offered a NIPPLE/NAVEL PIERCING?!?!? COMMONSENSE THAT I DON'T WANT THE OTHER PIERCING!!! My husband wants a second tattoo (the first one didn't come from The Crux), but he got a referral from a co-worker. I figured the people would be down to earth and my husband would be impressed. Instead my husband and I were very dissatisfied. Also The Crux was not very sanitary, when a tattoo artist was tattooing a man that walked inside the building barefooted. Not to mention they didn't have a huge selection of body jewelry either. So tomorrow on Monday I am going to Pincushn's (formally known as The Oracle) due to the fact my husband got his first tattoo done there when it was The Oracle. I got told by my husband that Pincushn's has FRIENDLY people there, and not people that are headstrong and stuck on themselves!!!!!!!!! So please don't waste time and gas like I did, DO NOT go to The Crux.
I had my second tattoo done here in August. I called her from the car on my way up to make an appointment, and she looked up my art on the internet to prepare. When I came in later she had it drawn up and was nice enough to tell me it was too small. She said she refused to screw me on a tattoo because the art would eventually shrink and blend. She said she would enlarge it and only charge a little more. It came out *perfectly*, and she was very patient with me when I got squirmy sitting still too long. I definitely recommend them, and will undoubtedly return.
