We drove 2hours to get here and the food was horrible. We had ordered Patato Naan with Methi Chicken. Ha Ha.. What a joke.. they have changed the defination of "Methi Chicken"!!! It was chicken gravy with methi sprinkled on top. Also Price is too too high. We didnt see any Indian out there, though resturant was full of americans. No doubt why it doesnt attract any Indian. Ofcourse food was not Indian atall and poor american what they know about Indian recipes !!! For them "Butter Chicken", "Methi Chicken" all same. Is not it? Actually whenever we go to Grand Rapids, we use to dine at Taste Of India (Flavor Of India). Yesterday was no exception and we did go there, but the restaurant is no more open :(
used to be good for a Sunday lunch, but was tasteless and the bread that was delivered to the serving line was wet and mushy. Took 30 minutes to get a chai tea. Nice new decor but the food is now sub par.
Bombay would be my preferred restaurant if there was nothing else around. Unfortuneately for them, there is a far superior Indian restaurant less than 10 minutes away (Palace of India).
Bombay is more expensive for less flavor. Although the atmosphere is fantastic, atmosphere isn't going to satisfy my tummy. I speak some Hindi and there are a few words I don't know, and when i asked the pale, red haired server what the dish meant he had to run in back and ask. They also didn't offer any sweet sides so i asked if he knew of a nearby Indian bakery or store, and he had no idea. I had just moved to Grand Rapids at the time, but I now know that there are two great Indian stores within a 5 mile radius - easy info to know.
It was my least favorite Indian restaurant ever until I visited the newly opened "Indian Cuisine", located on the other side of Bombay (their Chai tastes like bark water).
