LOOOOOOOOOOOOOVE THE PHOENIX CAFE... HAVE BEEN GOING THERE FOR YEARS AND CANNOT PASS UP THEIR EXCEPTIONAL SCONES WHICH ARE FRESHLY MADE WITH THE FINEST NATURAL INGREDIENTS. THE BEST I HAVE EVER TASTED, BUTTERY,FLAKY, DELICIOUS. PANINI SANDWICHES, ESP, THE TURKEY CLUB, ARE MADE WITH HOMEMADE BREAD AND PRESSED TO PROFECTION. I'VE HAD A LOT OF CHAI TEAS AT A LOT OF COFFEESHOPS AROUND AND I LIKE THEIRS BEST. GOOD RICH FLAVOR. COFFEE GOOD, TOO. ONLY ONE COMPLAINT, THEY TOOK THE GREEK VEGGIE OFF OF THE MENU. I LIKED THAT ONE A LOT. PLEASE BRING IT BACK.
Not mpressed. Service wasn't very friendly and took forever to prepare a latte that was mediocre. Won't go back.
I am a cafe junkie, and here to complete my bio med engineering degree. I like quite study time, and thought I discovered the perfect get away. well after twelve years in Italy from Sigonella Sicily, and La Maddelena Sardinia many thousand cappuccinos, I acquired a slight taste for it. After being corrected by the experts here in Beulah Michigan, on the traditional way of Cappuccino making, Who does not know what Parmalat, you can get a capo with out foam, and its still a Cappuccino. and argue with a customer and slam the register. 12 years plus in Italy and 76 different countries, this is the poorest excuse of a coffee shot. it was clean and well managed, but the individual that knows their stuff can enjoy the place with one less customer. Ciao

Yeah, that sounds like Sheila, the co-owner. I'm sorry you guys had it out. At the Phoenix they tend to have their noses up and their way is their way. I wouldnt call any coffee at the Phoenix a poor excuse, as it is the best available in the county. I just think your standards are high from your wordly experience and you can't realistically expect a little coffee shop in the middle of nowhere(because Benzie only has one traffic light and two fast food restaurants) to be word-class experts on coffee.
