Alden's Mill House

One of my favorite destinations when vacationing in northern Michigan. Always make a special trip to shop there. Have introduced many friends, all of whom love it. Everyone buys the Special Blend. I mail order when I run out of my favorites. The staff is friendly, helpful but not intrusive. I love browsing through all the gadgets and usually purchase something that catches my eye.

I love the Alden's Mill House and have taken many trips to Alden just to replace a utensil, spice, or soup base. I've introduced many of my close 'gal' friends and my sister to Alden's Mill House and they have an absolute ball there. To me it's a FUN store and you see and pick up many things that you never remember to get when you 'just go shopping.'
I'm looking forward to taking my Red Hat's friends there before they close up for the winter.

I think it's great that we have the capability to order ONLINE during the months the store is closed. This is a FORWARD THINKING business. I do hope, though, that they begin carrying more MICHIGAN and USA products. I know how difficult it is to find them retail so it's probably just as difficult for them to find them wholesale.

Impressive selection of kitchen gear. This house-turned-store is filled to the rafters with kitchen gadgets.

They make their own spice blends.

It's a bit hodge-podge. If you need a kitchen related item, this is the best place in the area to get it.

We never saw the staff while we were there. There were two other ladies shopping with us and no one greeted us or told us anything about the shop.

We left without making a purchase.

Their custom spice blends weren't unique. Liked the idea that they make them there, but we didn't need anything.

I disliked how everything was just packed in there. Most of the kitchen stuff is china made and poor quality. Came away with the impression they just carry anything kitchen related and "find a place" when the box of goods arrive.

Nothing to create a positive shopping atmosphere. Poor lighting plain shelving. Nothing to entice you to buy something (the whole point of going in, right?)

Overall, I wouldn't go there again unless I needed something and happened to be in the area.
