Good point. How would anyone other than the owners or someone close to them know about things like that.
The food is sub par and it's worth driving to Dillbert's (old owners of the LA Cafe).

Slow service, attitude and o.k. food. But I don't get much choice.... only restaurant in town. The one real long review must have been written by an employee or one of the owners. They make it sound like a 5 star restaurant. Kind of suspect when they give it five stars and happen to know the names of everyone that works there and that they "buy" local for their supplies. How would you know that if you just go there casually to eat? Actually the food at the party store next door or the Lake Ann Grocery is really tasty.... and you can actually eat it before you die waiting for your food.

Do you live in town? Take a charming ride down North Long Lake Rd. to Lake Ann. The country is STILL beautiful. In Lake Ann you will find the most amazing place to get a great meal! Since the new owners have taken over - the LA Cafe has become THE place to go for a scrumptious home-cooked meal. The remodeling is awesome. The owners have added so much to the overall atmosphere. They serve only the FRESHEST of food - no wierd additives here. They support LOCAL businesses when purchasing for the restuarant - how important is that these days???
It is a family owned and operated business - no big chain stuff here. This family has a HUGE heart. They really care about their customers. They have personally delivered food to people when they knew they were ill - no charge - just a warm smile and genuine concern. The cook - Brenden - really cares about what he serves - and plenty of it too! Ross's pizzas are simply the best in the region - you will come back once you've had a tast of the real thing. IF you are coming for the rib special - you might want to call ahead to reserve your plate - it is a sell-out every time. Jan, Sam, Crystal, and Amanda are the servers. They always make you feel special - they love what they do, they appreciate every customer that walks through the door, and they want to make sure you come back. Each one of these girls has a gift for knowing how to take care of their customers. Special orders - no problem. They want to make sure you get it your way. We only live a couple miles from LA Cafe. Before the new owners took over, we hardly ever walked in the door. The old owner never acknowledged us - and we were never made to feel welcome. That has ALL changed! Walk in the door now and you will instantly feel like family. You will leave with a smile on your face. This restaurant, the owners and staff, and the food can all be summed up quite nicely - AWESOME. Come, take a ride, and experience the best this area has to offer!

Too bad this is written from the owners perspective. I come up that way 4 or 5 times a year from the flat lands, and it USED to be a good place to eat. Until the one day when their slow service and lack of responsiveness was blamed on ME and other CUSTOMERS! If you want your appetizer AFTER the meal...this is the place to be!

And another thing....if they would have done a decent job remodeling, THEY WOULD MOVE THE DOOR OR THE CASH REGISTER SO THAT WHEN SOMEONE ELSE COMES IN AND YOU'RE TRYING TO PAY....YOU DON'T GET HIT BY THE DOOR!
