   Not inexpensive, but the best restaurant in all of northeast Michigan. Found this place on my last visit to Alpena and was surprised and pleased. Anything on the slightly upscale menu is great, staff is wonderful, and the ambience is perfect for anything from family outings to group get-togethers to impress-your-first-date to just hanging with buds. Large wine and beer list and any drink you'd want. No disappointments.

   Nice Place: The John A Lau is one of the best places to eat in Alpena. The bread bowl soup is A+

   Not Just A Saloon!: The decore is very pleasent. With low lighting, also a varied collection of items from Alpena's past, graces the walls of the resturant. The soup is one of my favorites. It comes in a bowl made of bread, that makes one's mouth water thinking about it. To Dine, a family of four can expect to spend about $60.00. Its a great place to go!
