User Rating: 2 out of 5 starsDecent food and good service. I've been there many times with both good and bad experiences. Most of their food is generally average, although their steaks and 'better' dishes have been gradually been getting worse even though their prices keep going up.
I've had a very bad experience with two people getting food poisoning. Both people had completely separate meals the rest of the day, and the only thing they had in common was dinner at Applebee's. They both got the same dish, and both were very ill afterwards.
I called Applebee's and the manager told me it was impossible for someone to get food poisoning within X hours of eating a meal. Our doctor told us this was ridiculous and completely unfounded. I think the Applebee's manager should quit spewing medical 'facts'. The manager was completely unapologetic and unhelpful.
User Rating: 2 out of 5 starsApplebee's has always been my favorite restaurant, up until last night 6:30pm 12/19/08 at the Marshalltown Applebee's. I order the bruschetta burger with onion rings. The food was NOT hot, only lukewarm..so it tasted left over. A greasy bun is not enjoyable cold. It ruined Applebee's reputation for me. Also may I suggest the waitresses slow down a bit. Our waitress talked really fast and was speed walking everywhere and gave us the bill when we were only 1/2-3/4 the way done with our meal. She did not introduce herself, so I did not get her name. Although we were asked how our food was, it was before I could even taste the burger and onion rings. I don't mind making sure the order turned out right, but if a person is going to ask how the meal is, let a diner taste if first! I understand it is a busy season, but may I suggest Applebee's focuses on making a person's experience enjoyable with hot food and a waitress that appears to be sincerely interested in serving customers, verses trying to rush the crowds of people through the restaurant as quickly as possible. There were no review cards on the table, so I have found this website to write a review. Thank you for hearing my concerns for the Marshalltown Applebee's, I hope you take these suggestions seriously. Thank you.
