User Rating: 4 out of 5 starsHouse of Chen has a smaller but better location. It's near Fredrick's Realty on Lincoln Ave roughly 5 blocks East of Duff on the North side of the street. Blink and you've missed it. It's in a strip mall just west of UPS.
Very good Chinese food, great service, quick when they're not busy. However the new place is much smaller than the one on Ferndale so prepare for a wait if you go during busy hours.
I love seeing the UPS drivers there for lunch. I also love the wide variety of people who are Chen fans.
User Rating: 5 out of 5 starsHouse of Chen has recently moved nearby my workplace and I would have to say they have the best chinese takeout in town. Every time I come in to pick it up it is hot, fresh, and handed to me with a smile. I now have a new favorite lunch spot and the House of Chen in Ames is it.
User Rating: 5 out of 5 starsHouse of Chen is AWESOME: My whole family loves eating here. The food has the most wonderful flavor without using any MSG. For the most part, we get served very quickly. However, because the food is made to order, there may occasionally be a longer wait than usual. Our experience is that we get our food VERY QUICKLY on a "normal" day. The people who work there are wonderful and treat us like friends or family! We've been going to this restaurant regularly since we moved to Ames in 1997 and haven't stopped going!
