Best Chinese for the money in Ames: I've been eating at Little Taipei since attending ISU in the late 80's. It's still one of my favorite restaurants anywhere. The food is reasonably price, always consistent, and arrives very fast after ordering. I prefer the spicier dishes and tend to gravitate toward Szechuan Chicken or General Tsos Chicken but all dishes are good. Very friendly employees. This is everything that a restaurant should be, although if you're looking for a nice night out you should probably look elsewhere for ambience. The restaurant is designed for function - which is basically eating great Chinese food - nothing more.
User Rating: 5 out of 5 starsExcellent food, fast service, & great value!: The food is fresh & they are done cooking it by the time you sit down! A great place for lunch, b/c they're so fast. This is the best chinese food in Ames & the couple that owns the place are so sweet.
