Grotto of the Redemption

The Grotto is lovely, but the experience was spoiled by the anti-gay rhetoric of the Grotto's Director when she began our tour. She chose to make a "political comment" about Iowa's recent passage of same-sex marriage. The Grotto can be a religious experience for some visitors. The unprofessional personal comments by the Grotto's Director were met with nervous laughter from the tour group. No one knew how to react. It was a sad start to what could have been a nice experience. Her words were hurtful, unprofessional, and unnecessary. Tour participants should have been forewarned and have had a choice of whether to subject themselves to the Director's personal views.

Absolutely worth seeing!: I've seen this several times in my trips to see family in NW Iowa. It's phenomenal! The Church is so beautiful, you MUST see it!!! I was told it's one of the 7 Wonders of the Modern World, but I've not verified that - in my opinion, it is - without any doubt! If you're in the area, bring your camera and enjoy it! It was done by one Priest with no extra help. I believe his name was Fr Doberstein, and it is absolutely stunning!!
