Sushi, Udon, Bentos, The Three Samurai Japanese Resturant has got the best kind of Japanese cuisine. With reasonable prices and sushi days on Thursday and Sunday, anyone looking for a great, authentic Japanese meal should visit. It's a bit pricey sometimes, but not extremely cashing out the bank. Awesome Tatami rooms are also available for private parties or dining, so I believe the intire atmosphere of the resturant has captivated, at least, my eye.

sake, sushi, tempenyaki. what more could you want?: I love the food at this place. Every time I have visited, I've sat with friends at a tempenyaki table. For those who don't know about this, it's a table surrounding a grill on 3 sides. Your chef prepares the food right in front of you.

Each time I have been there, it has been a different chef, and they all have been superb. Not only do they create the most amazing food, but they provide incredible entertainment value as well, as they do acrobatic tricks with kitchen utensils and your soon-to-be-devoured food.

The prices are about what one would expect --- a bit pricey, but not too expensive for a nice dinner. As I recall, the vegetarian entrees ran around $12-$15, and the meat and seafood fare would be in the $22-$28 range.

I do believe my favorite part of the dining experience there are the sake bombs. They pour you shot of sake (Japanese grain alcohol) and place it across 2 chopsticks, precariously laid across the top of a half-filled glass of beer. They have everyone at the table (willing to participate of course) count to 3 in japanese, slam their fists on the table (thus knocking the shot of sake into the beer), and drink. First one to finish, wins. We've even managed to get the chef and waitress in on the game. It's quite entertaining, if not a tad on the messy side.

Anyway, I absolutely love the food, the atmosphere, and the staff. I highly recommend this restaurant to anyone wanting to go out for a nice, unqiue dinner in the Iowa City area.
