We were very uncomfortable at this restaurant and will never return. Although there were a number of nice looking tables available along the wall and window, we were given a table crammed in between some other tables. We were told the other tables were reserved. We were there about 45 minutes waiting for our food, during which time those other tables sat unused. Although the tables are too close together to allow for traffic, the waitresses kept squeezing in between the tables. After being bumped four times by two different waitresses, we left in discust.
We celebrated my fathers 80th birthday this past Sat. I had called ahead to make reservations, asked for a nice table by the window. Instead, they squeezed us against the fireplace and exit door. The tables were so close together that we were constantly getting "bumped" by waitstaff as they tried to squeeze through! I had prime rib, was over 60% fat, the waitress didn't care, said "that happens sometimes" and wouldn't tell manager. The baked potatoes, were all small, cold and HARD. My daughter never recd. her drink with the meal even after asking twice. I had ordered a small cake ahead of time, the waitress brought it over with a candle in it while we were still eating! We tried to cut the cake, but our knife wouldn't even go through it! We thought it was frozen, but turns out it was dried out and hard as a rock! Waitress agreed - said they just keep them in freezer, didn't know what happened to it, took it back, and brought us a slice of torte instead. What was supposed to be a special celebration turned out to be an embarrassment - we will never go back!
We went there for a wedding. I do not recommend bringing kids here!!You know how kids run around. Not a good set up with all the tables, people walking, and also traffic from the caterers. Very small
We waited 2 hours from the start of the meal till dessert time.
I just thought the place was disorganized, the servers seemed rather abrupt and the service was very slow. When I say abrupt, one of the servers was yelling at my niece, and my son to get out of her way. I won't get into that, because I know the servers were stressing with the crowd etc.. It was rude and it ruined my evening.
The kids didn't even get milk with there meals.
What concerned me is that the bathrooms are up the stairs. The railings up those steps are very unsafe and a child could fall through them very easily. I got very nervous watching the kids (not mine) playing on and around the railings.
The dance room is in a different room then the reat of the reception. It is very, very small, I felt closterphobic. No place to sit and even watch the bride and groom dance.
The food was very good, but it would of been better if they had more food on the plates. The kids meal had more food then the adults did!
We left the reception early due to lack of seating in the dance room, and also because we were hungry. We went to McDonalds afterwords because the food was not filling at all.
If you are considering this place and want young children to attend your wedding I would go elsewhere..

I can hardly believe Gail's comments. We have been going to The Alpine for over 30 years and yet to have a bad meal. If Gail would have spoke to the owner himself, I am sure that waitress would have been fired, and the dinners would have been on the house. Mr. Petrie is more then fair. Any one that has a complaint, speak to the owner, before not going back. I have had weddings, banquets for my church, my class reuiom of 50 yrs.engagement parties, 65th birthday party, high school graduation party, college party. Yet to find fault with anything. Have always been proud of everything. Carol
