On an outing to Kenosha, I thought I would try Frank's after seeing it on the Food Network show.
What a dissapointment. On a weekday at 11:00am we were greeted by the owner with: "it's going to be a long wait, so if your in a hurry don't stay here"!! Something about their cook being in an accident. We decided to stay. And stay we did......for 45 minutes and watching the substitute cook was like watching paint dry. It did seem like the "regular" customers were being seated and served quickly. After waiting 1 hour at our table and getting only 1 refill on coffee, we decided to cancel our order and get the hell out of there. The place is really a "dive" and not that clean.
Stay away until they clean-up their act.
Not going to knock it,just stating facts, they work very hard in there. BUT - food is so-so, service is slow, and there are a lot of health code violations. No hair covers for one thing (and the young girls have their hair hanging all over). I watched the cook for almost an hour and not once did she wash her hands - cracking eggs and then touching other food and bread - cross contamination galore. To many unsanitary practices to mention, this place is a disaster waiting to happen. If you want lots of food for a reasonable price - go for it, if you are not to picky about cleanliness and food safety.
I've been to Frank's a few times. The food is always SO delicious. I haven't tried anything except the half garbage plate yet because it's tried and true! They work very hard to feed everyone as fast as they can on the weekends, so patience is a must. If you see people waiting outside and are impatient- go somewhere else. Otherwise, Frank's is a favorite, should certainly give them a try is you haven't yet!

I agree with this review 100%, I was just there yesterday. I have been wanting to go for 2 years, ever since I saw it on Diners, Drive ins & Dives. But, I was disappointed, I don't think anyone should have to wait over an hour for your food, with no explanation or apology, and that's not counting the 20 minute wait to sit down. I don't think any restaurant is worth that wait!!! I knew that service was slow, but, this was ridiculous.
