When dining here, I've never felt quite welcomed but I have never felt snubbed either. The service is usually slow and the waitress offered no suggestions as to the whats on he menus.
The seating is very tight and the arrangements leave little to no privacy.
The food is simple yet it doesn't leave you with a want for returning or more.
I read the reviews posted on this site before visiting Los Compadres for lunch last week. Having been to most of the area Mexican restaurants in Kenosha, I would NOT rate this as the BEST in the area. I would say it's OK...we loved the salsa/guac and chips they brought to the table, and my co-worker thought the free cup of vegetable noodle soup was delicious.
I ordered the chicken tostadas, and my friend had the chicken tacos.
The chicken was a bit dry, with a kind of 'funky' gamey taste but overall it was good. The menu is hard to read - mostly in spanish, and not very well organized. On the plus side, they have an outdoor patio and a full bar. I will say that there are several other mexican restaurants in the area that are much better.
Waste of time and money
I know that others have raited it very good. I read those reviews also and decided to try it out. I love all kinds of ethinic food. The guacamole was going bad (bubbling and tasted sour) I had carnie asada, the steak tasted like fat, was very thin and over cooked. The beans were overly saltly and the rice had no taste.
I would not waste your time and money going here.
