Botanas Restaurant

I used to really like botanas, however the service on our last visit was so terrible I'd never go back. We arrived at 8:45pm on a Thursday night and were rushed through the whole meal by our waiter who kept refering to us as "mamcitas" and making innuendos. We weren't allowed time to further look at our menus as it was "time to order." Also, we weren't allowed to order a second margarita because apparently at some point in the hour we spent at botanas there had been a "last call." however in an effort to make up for this, our waiter offered to give us "anything else we wanted all night long." Then at about 9:50pm they turned up the lights in the restaurant quite brightly and started shooing everyone out as if it were 2AM on the weekend. I have never been shooed out of a restaurant, had my meal timed or literally been kicked out of my table at 9:50 on a Thursday. At one point a couple was seated at the table next to us and the host told them that they were closing at 10 so they would only have 25 minutes to eat, they promptly got up and left. Restaurants are supposed to be customer service oriented organizations, and botanas has apparently missed the memo. I have never been treated so rudely in my life, especially after overpaying so much for the food.

Bad service from the minute we walked in the door, to the minute we stepped out. The Mexicans practically beg for a tip, reminding you to 'give 15%.' I can see why they need to remind people, given their bad service they are probably used to making less than average in tips. If they only could grasp the concept of good service translating to a tip that exceeds 15%. The manager is terribly unpleasant, I can see why the wait staff don't smile or have any manners. I had spicy pork tacos which were terribly dry and bland. I applied the table salsa to add some flavor. My husband had enchaladas which were sub-par. Will NEVER go back or recommend this place to anyone. There are many Mexican restaurants on this corner, this has the least quality overall.

The first review does not say too much for this place, as we all know- eat at taco bell, and get runs, from the border. What is a Botanas, anyway?
