I stayed there over Labor Day weekend. I did as the manager suggested and called the day of arrival and asked for a renovated room. They put me on the 24th floor. The room was "ok", nothing special. The "renovated room" looked liked 13 year olds had done the painting and wall papering. It just looked really cheap. The corridor carpets are really dirty. The website price was $159.00 /night. There is no way I would pay that. The Priceline price (that they accepted) was $59 /night. So for $59 bucks, it was fine. Not worth much more. If I have to say one good thing though, their location is great, but there are other hotels with a block or two and I'll try them next time.
I will NEVER stay here again. My husband and I were there for a conference on 6/25/09-6/28/09. It was dirty! The carpet in our room was nasty (unvaccumed) and curling up in the corners of the room away from the baseboards. Our air conditioner was set to 65 degrees, however Our room would never get below 78 degrees, even at times 80 degrees. Even after calling guest services multiple times, No one fixed the problem. It was uncomfortable to sleep. It didn't help that there was not a vent in the bathroom, so showers created more humidity. The windows were secured shut, impossiable to open for even a slight breeze. But that didn't stop the annoying constant whistle that kept us up ALL night from the vintage window seperated from the frame. Even over the air conditioner it sounded like a constant siren going ALL night. Then they charged a unauthorized $90.00 deposit ($30/day) in additon to the rate and tax for any added expenses(ie room service/phone calls) or damage. Understandable, but make me aware before hand.Like maybe when they gave me an actual print out of the chrages the morning of check out and NO WHERE did it speak of this deposit. I had a specific expense account that only monies for the hotel were transferred into this account. So when getting the print out at check out, No Deposit was mentioned. I did not tranfer the appropriate amount, causing overdraft charges to my account. It could have all been avoided, had I just been told and the appropriate money transferred. So I was not surprised to find that comment after comment on here is negative. Do yourself a favor and stay at the Hyatt or Intercontinental. It is no wonder that this hotel shares the name Hilton just like the wanna be celeb 'Paris', nothing but a trashy, dirty establishment that is not worth the money spent on it! So much for a level of classiness and regal quality being associated with the historic "Hilton" name.
ask for a lake view...: ask for a lake view room it is fantastic
