Milwaukee's best kept secret! First off, Paddy's is not a normal bar, it's a REAL Irish pub. The owners are wonderful and the setting is pitch perfect, the design and structure is flawless. You can obviously see from moment you enter, all the hard work, sacrifice, and love which went into building something completely original. No cover charge to listen to live bands on the weekends, free Chex-Mix and peanut M&M's, and a relaxing and friendly environment. I've seen people get engaged there, I've even been to a wedding ceremony and reception there, it was the best! The people there are loyal to there local pub, and the memories created will forever be remembered.
I have been to a lot of bars in Milwaukee and it is as simple as this one is an all around poor place to spend your free time. The patio is nice I give it that but the service is piss poor, the layout is really odd, it gets very noisy, and it smells like vomit and skunky beer. The crowd that hangs out here seems to be either under-aged and extremely intoxicated or over 30 and bitter. So next time you are walking too north avenue and your passing paddyâs just keep walking!
Use to love going to this place until a group of my friends had hands-down, the worst treatment/experience at a bar EVER! My fiance and I like to drink our cocktails in a pint glass (just a preference; like the bigger straws, etc.) and always make sure to order them as a TALL SINGLE POUR. We both work in the service industry (me server, him bartender) and we are well aware of the difference between a double and just a tall, i.e. more soda. Anyways, we ordered our cocktails in this fashion all evening as usual, and we were not receiving doubles by any means. When it came time to pay our tab, our bill was over $90!!! For the two of us, for I would assume to be a couple hours (not sure of exact time but a few drinks each). We asked the cocktail waitress why our bill was so expensive and she informed us that our drinks were $8 each. We were very confused by this as most cocktails in the Milwaukee area range from $3-$6 depending on the liquor and that is when she also became confused and went to discuss it with the bartender. Woody (?), the older gentleman- I use that term loosely- came over and asked if there was a problem and we told him our issues over the price of our bill. Mind you, neither of us were drunk and the other 3 friends we were with can also attest to the fact that we calm and polite, simply trying to get to the bottom of things. He informed us that since our drinks came in a tall glass, they cost $8; the cost of a double. My fiance asked why he was not forewarned of this in the first place. Not that we need to be coddled but if someone orders a tall single pour, and your establishment doesn't do that, perhaps a heads-up would have been nice. The debate continued as we questioned why they charge an extra $4 for an ounce of soda to placed atop a normal pour, etc. and that is when we were told, "If you can't afford to drink here, then don't drink here." Myself, and the group I was with have never been so insulted by a comment, especially from the owner. Being in the service industry, I don't agree that the customer is always right, however being rude and short-tempered was not the way to handle the situation. We begrudginlgy paid our bill and still tipped mind you (not the waitress's fault) and vowed not to go back to a place that makes no attempt to handle any kind of customer issue with tact or effort to meet somewhere in the middle. Love the patio, but not worth being insulted over.

$3 to 6$ for a tall drink? I paid $10 downtown, and that's usually the price range when drinking IN the city, in a classy establishment. $3 to $6 for a tall, maybe at Rascals, but lets face facts a place like Rascals is below average. Apparently your not use to drinking in a city. Image any other city like New York, D.C., L.A., Chicago where it cost an arm and a leg to drink, Milwaukee is fairly reasonable. Plus, I've never been in a bar where they've informed me of the drink price when I have a tab open, you need to ask what the price is better you order.
