I have banked at Educators Credit Union for over 20 years and found their staff to always be respectful and honesty. They helped me finance my first car and home and walked us through the whole process. I will never go back to a bank that seemed to just want to charge me fees prior to joining Educators. I love me credit union and would recommend it to anyone that wants great personal service, helpful advice, and better rates. I actually received $100 back last December just for being a member and using their services. They also have an excellent home banking product!

I went there to see what rates they offer for a pre-owned vehicles, just so you know, I already found a car at local dealership and was approved for 2.9% APR for 60 month. It’s a very low APR for current economical times, but with a doubt in my mind, I went to ECU to see what they offer. When I got there and was talking to auto loan specialist, I showed that person (I’m leaving names out) what I’m buying and what I’m getting from local dealer on financing. (I have PHD in Accounting and Financing) That’s when BS started and my experience was ruined. First and foremost, I come to find out that vehicle that I’m buying is too expensive, and I’m over paying for the car! Now that’s funny because I have a friend in Auto industry and before I took a look at the vehicle at the dealership, I called him to find out if the deal I was getting was truly a good deal. He told me it was a great deal and financing is excellent. (I known this gentlemen close to 30 years now and he was a best man at my wedding, I trust him 100%) As all this was evolving I told person who was feeding me all this BS that I need to know rates that they can offer me for vehicle loan. Well that’s where it got very interesting and I was shocked on how it turned out, In there desperate attempt to steal business from local dealer that employs at least 50 people, they told me that they can save me $2-3,000 if I buy a car from them, but they don’t have a car in there inventory like I want and I need to wait until they get it. At that point I said, “What can you offer me on the interest rate for this vehicle that I don’t need to wait for?” they started going on and on about how it’s not 2.9% but I’m going to pay more for interest and that the deal is not good and I shouldn’t buy car form them and it’s all fake, and on and on and on….(rates wore higher) Anyway, I left, went back to the dealer and purchased certified pre-owned vehicle for an excellent price with free extended warranty and 2.9% APR for 60 month. Very funny but 2 weeks later I went back to ECU and closed all my accounts and no longer deal with them. By the way, the deal was true and I heard from that dealership management that they run in to that issue all the time with ECU, they will take a way deals from stores around here and sell people there own cars for less, but make money on finance. Now if you are a true shopper and know what you looking for, got to our local dealers and look at their vehicles and save $$$$ and put food on the tables of local workers. I’m not the brightest person, but I did get an excellent deal and I did save my self about $3,400 in interest with dealer financing vs. ECU. ***NOW THAT’S FUNNY!!!***

    Sincerely,

    Former member of ECU

Worst "I'm a Phd." post I've read in a long time.

I find this situation hard to believe, ECU is the best financial institution in the area. I know from person experience they find you the best possible deal even if it isn't with them.
