I worked at Bill's for almost 2 years (a month short). It was a great place to work and shop. My family has been shopping here for years. The managers are great and the boss is the most flexible boss i've ever had. This is a great place to have your teenage kids work. I love this store and would defend it any day!
I was tired of driving to Lanes or Scotts to order birthday cakes. I needed two. One for a mother in law and one for my mom. Not only was the person at the bakery nice, she went through items in the isles that I wanted to be used in the cakes! They were phenominal. Chocoholic mom got Nutella inbetween layers, while the other had cherry filling and butter cream frosting. Each was very pleased. I will order cakes from Bill's for all cakes. Better than average local grocery store.
Bill's Food Center, almost 100% perfect! :): Bill's is a great place to shop. Yes, the prices are a little high, actually more than a little high, but it is a small town grocery store that serves a large area. Versus driving all the way into Madison, you are probably paying the equivalent in time and hassle by shopping at Bill's, so it all levels out. The people that work there are extremely friendly, it is almost contagious. I cannot help but smile all the way out the door from the service I receive, everytime I go there it is consisent! They have a very nice deli area, the meats area is small but you definately have a good selection! They even have pickled herring in wine sauce, which is one of my favorite foods! Let's move on to the frozen area, they do not have specific items, but, if you want them badly enough just ask and they may stock them... I speak from experience. They even offer drive up for your groceries, which seems to become a rarity in this area these days. I only have one bad thing to say about Bill's Food Center, and that is their produce. They carry nice specials on produce, but the produce is of poor quality. They have a very nice selection, but in general the produce doesn;t look its best. It is hard for me to find an unblemished green pepper or grapes without a few rotten ones messing up the whole bag. You sort of have to pick through to find the good produce. On the other hand, their melons and apples and oranges are of perfect quality, everything else needs a little work though. Do not forget to try their doughnuts and enjoy a nice complimentary coffee while you makes your way down the aisles!
