User Rating: 3 out of 5 starsI had the Mediterranean Burger and loved it! Feta, pita, vegies and cuccumber sauce. It was my birthday, so I got to continue the tradition of getting a free mug and you can get any beer of your choice! I rocked the Guinness.
User Rating: 4 out of 5 starsI get the Gritty.: I have never been here for my birthday but it is hard to deny how much fun the place can be. Good bar food and a large selection of beers. A veggie burger has even worked its way on the menu, a good move for a town like Madison. A great local place that has endured for years with good reason.
UPDATE This year we stopped at the Gritty before a hockey game and went in the what must be, the 'bar out door'. We were greated very rudely by a 'kid' with a headset and told we went in the wrong door. "Sorrrrrrr-e" And get this! The 'kid' told us we had to go back outside in the cold and go in the 'in' door. What??? We went out the 'out' door and went to the Kohl Center and enjoyed the pizza they sell there.

I had a Chipotle burger medium-rare with sauteed mushrooms, pepper jack, lettuce, tomato, and a chipotle mayo and it was scrumptious--the basics done well. As far as beer goes, I'd have to recommend the honey/berry weiss and the blue moon w/orange wedge.
