As transplanted New Yorkers, we have been searching for authentic NY style pizza and this place is IT...the only one in Madison since all of the Casa Bianca restaurants have closed. Great thin crust, not a cracker, sliced in huge wedges, not in squares. Staff makes us homesick.
This is REAL New York pizza. I'm from New York, and I was really missing good pizza, but then I found Pizza Di Roma and my problems were solved! The slices are huge, the dough is thin (no deep dish here!), and the taste is amazing! Pretty cheap, too-just don't expect a five-star restaurant, because the place is kind of hole-in-the-wall-like. As all the bests usually are, of course.
Its a bit of a dive...but damn the pizza is good!!! Lots of choices for all pie lovers...including the veggies. One slice is large enough for a meal.
Best Pizza in Madison! excellent selection, the calamari is also delicious. I've been there countless times, the staff is very friendly and always remember me and my friends when we go there! it may be a little dirty at times, but usually only when the drunk people downtown are gallivanting around being drunk and disrespectful. highly recommended. my favorite is the tomato basil pizza or the stuffed spinach pizza.
The food is good but....: It's dirty inside and the people that work there are very rude.
Best pizza in Madison: I agree with earlier reviewer -- it's only NY-like pizza around.
Deeeelicious!: Delivery was prompt and the pizza was so very good!
Only Choice for NY Pizza in Madison: Pizza Di Roma is the only NY pizza choice in madison, Glass Nickel is good pizza but does not give me that NY taste I so crave.
My favorite place to eat!: I can never go to State Street without stopping at Pizza di Roma. The pizza is fantastic, and the prices are amazing. The people are wonderful too (if you go often enough, they get to know you). The best pizza in Madison!
Fantastic food, not so fantastic service.: Great food, however, had some issues with delivery. They are kind of rude and won't believe you if they mess up your order and the wait times are extremely long. Besides that, the pizzas are fantastic as well as the pastas.
What a New York Pizza shop is: New York style pizza, found far and few between in the midwest. This shop located on State street is one of my favorite stops. Get a slice or two(only if I have not eaten in days) Priced well for what you get. The ambiance, well really there is none, white walls and some posters. The people outside the windows is what I guess is what you see. But your attention should be on the Pizza, calazones.
