User Rating: 2 out of 5 starsOver priced for what you get. Very dark. Hard to see the food you are eating. I believe that it is only in business because it is known as one of the best places to eat, which it is not. It may be one place in the area that you can go for supper dressed in something more than jeans and a ball cap.
If you are looking to go out for a meal that will knock your socks off travel to the River View Inn, Northbend WI (well worth the drive) or Schmidty's on La Crosse's south side. Better quality of meat, larger salad bar with more choices, a more inviting atmosphere and you will leave with more money in your checkbook.-

Quite possibly our favorite place to eat in Wisconsin. Servings are expensive but HUGE. I love the atmosphere. The food is awesome. The service is alway great. Highly, highly recommended.
User Rating: 5 out of 5 starsBest Steaks in town!: If you've ever had the desire for the most delicious, mouth-watering ribeye in your life...this is the place to go...quietly nestled along the banks of the Mighty Mississppi...this is one stop I ALWAYS make when I'm in town. These ribeyes are HUGE...be warned...do NOT eat/snack on anything before you go to The Freighthouse...you just gotta be here in person to believe it!

You defitely get your moneys worth here, service is spectacular,drinks are what you paid for,and the food awesome.AND you can go as casual as you want. no dress code here!!
