Worst of the worst. The food wasn't even up to McDonald's standard. Food looked as if it was taken from a TV dinner.
Well my dad David has owned the place since 1999 and since we made a lot of improvements. The Bay Room is very nice, with new carpet and wallpaper. The food is great. My dad is wonderful chef. The bar has a wide variety of drinks. The New Years celebration we have is worth making reservations to. Check it Out.
In my opinion, Zeis' Platter on Turner Rd., in Ashland, Wisconsin is a very fine dining establishment. The interior is elegant and the setting is extremely romantic. The food is exceptional and reasonably priced. The filet mignon is the best I've had in any restaurant in the United States. Dave Zeis is a wonderful chef who is without a doubt gifted in his culinary skills.

Upon entering the restaurant there was no one there to seat us. We stood around for a while before a man at the bar got up and went into the back of the restaurant to get someone for us. The salad was anemic and had one small grape tomato and one very small slice of cucumber. The dressing came in a small plastic cup which was so gelled that I had to coax it out with a fork as it didn't want to pour out. The popovers were burnt and seemed to be warmed up from the previous night's leftovers. My husband ordered filet mignon at $29.95 a plate. When getting the dinner the beef didn't look at all like a nice thick piece of filet mignon, but was rather 3/4 of an inch thick and was over cooked. You get more meat from those no-name steaks you purchase in a box in the supermarket. The vegetables were fresh and cooked with a crispness that was enjoyable. Over all, the $63.00 we spend just on our food was way overpriced for what we received. We were there on New Year's Eve and were happy with both the service and the food. Both times we got the potato cakes and they didn't taste at all this time as they did on New Year's Eve. They were much more bland than before, and not as enjoyable. We have decided to stick with the 2nd Street Bistro in Ashland. Have eaten there a few times and yet to be disappointed at anything they serve. Probably won't be going back to The Platter.
