Came to town for a dog show, being a grad from UWEC I had been to Houligan's, but it was 17 years ago. I knew from reading the reviews and looking at the website that the menu had changed since I was there last. We had a party of 8, people from all over (IN, IL, MN, WI) and that travel extensively and eat in many different states and cities throughout the US. Everyone was very happy with their meal and the service we received. Six of us had some form of steak, the special on Saturday was the Smoked Prime Rib, both people said it was EXCELLENT. I had the tenderloin tips, they were out of this world and I have eaten all over from NY to FL, but being from WI I feel we have the best beef/steaks anywhere. We all agreed it was some of the best food we have had at a dog show in a very very long time, we were just disappointed that we didn't come on Friday and Saturday! Some reviewers commented on price, Houligan's is right in line with the quality of the food/service you receive at this type of establishment, prices have gone up all over because of this crappy economy and I am willing to pay for a meal that is this enjoyable! Thank you to everyone at Houligan's for an excellent meal/atmosphere/service.

THE FOOD AND THE ATMOSPHERE
ARE EXCEPTIONAL, ESPECIALLY
FOR THE EAU CLAIRE AREA.
THERE ARE VERY FEW PLACES
TO GO WHERE YOU ARE TRULY
GETTING A GOURMET DINING EXPERIENCE.
IT IS A REAL TREAT EVERY TIME WE
DINE HERE!! STEAK IS AWESOME!!

Best steak in Town: Steak! Try their reserve steaks for something even more special. The rest of the food is good too. :-) Great specialty beer and high-end liquor selection. Casual and unpretentious. Spectacular, friendly service. Extremely willing to accomodate special food needs. Do one of their special theme dinner nights if you can.

It is expensive, but you get what you're paying for.

-As far as the 18% added to one reviewer's bill. That's only because you used a coupon (probably $10 off or a free meal). They do that because otherwise many people stiff the waiter on tip.
