here's a thought...about a year ago all the home owners were assest $500 to put in their "fund" If you did not pay there would be a lein against your home. If there are 100 units at 500/unit, wouldn't there be a lot of money in their "funds"? Well the monthly reports have not shown any. If not everybody paid, then give the other people their money back. Nothing but a bunch of crooks! I HATE these people for so many reasons. They are not here for the homeowner...they are here to line their own pockets.
I have never been happy with Mayday or the board members but I realize fighting with them is like fighting with City Hall, they only make your life miserable if you go against them. .
I have lived in my townhouse for many years and I have seen the values of our homes go down drastically due to many foreclosures. This is a very hard time for many homeowners, with foreclosures and loss of jobs. Why at this time would they raise our dues? I really don't understand this, they do absolutely nothing for the money they rob us of every month. The decks are falling apart, the landscaping... well there is not landscaping, our stairs are crumbling and our driveways have never we have seen any kind of new blacktop in over 15 years. I would really like to see the board members homes, I would put money on the fact that none of these things plaque their homes. Why canâÂÂt we get rid of these people? All of themâ¦..We need some new YOUNG blood filling these seats on this board and management company. Oh and here is another idea⦠If each group of homes put their dues together, and we each were responsible for taking care of our own property I would bet our homes would look a lot better. We should really look into forming our own homeownerâÂÂs management company, just drop the association and take care of our own homes. I think we all have enough pride in doing this successfully. I mean they are not doing anything except mow the grass and have the garbage picked up. What can we do??? There must be something we can do. They only way out seems like we will have to sell our homes at very low prices and let the slumlords and crack houses take them over. At this point I am ready to just give it awayâ¦.
Anyone else feeling my frustration?
Some FACTS: A property association is HIRED (employed) to serve the needs of an ENTIRE association, to help keep the units and surrounding property in good repair for maximum value, and enhance the living experience of the homeowners.
Two people have been on the townhouse board of my association long term. They have hired and rehired Mayday Mgmt after a petition and their initial ousting a few years back. To become a board member requires these 2 board members' "approval".
MAYDAY Mgmt is almost impossible to contact (no physical address to visit). They don't respond to phone calls or emails in a timely manner to anything. A written request may get a response--in their good time, but if something is leaking, gutted or cracked in two as a result of association's contractors, that's a poor option. Our two representative board members won't allow us to contact them, either according to self designated "association rules."
Our association is almost bankrupt--but none of us has access to the "books." We have a monthly newsletter briefing on the bills owed. The association IS finally taking some legal action on seriously defaulted dues. Unnecessary cosmetic "repairs" have been pushed through while Major repairs to driveways, crumbling stairs and shoddily installed siding are neglected until they require more expensive replacement. An attempt to address these complaints and/or to repair them yourself is met with retribution and threats. We are told one select vendor is our only option for redress, who charges to inspect his own mistakes. Not surprisingly, he finds none--here's the bill, thanks!
The reputation of the management of this association is becoming public knowledge, making it more difficult to sell our properties and destroying the peace of mind of the people it is supposed to serve. We own these properties and need to address this--12 severely negative postings can't all be "disgruntled people who don't get their own way;"

I agree 150% .. just wished there was a way to get rid of them... so frustrated
when I first bought my TH many years ago...there was not a management company. It was all done by the homeowners. Things were repaired when needed, at no cost to the homeowner, things ran smoothly. since having this horrible management take over my monthly dues have more than tripled and they are making you give extra money everytime you turn around. You are forced to use their people do do repairs, which a bunch of 1st graders could do a better job. Mayday management is nothing but a bunch of crooks and so are the people who sit on the board for allowing them to take advantage of the homeowners
What can we do. I was at the last meeting and really anytime anyone tried to speak up they were shot down by say there wasn't enough time?
