A native of Canada, Dr. Macdonald was originally educated at Queen's University in Ontario. After completing his residency in general surgery at Dartmouth College, he spent four years in an otolaryngology fellowship at the University of Toronto, and then went on for a second fellowship in facial plastic and reconstructive surgery at UCSF Medical Center. He treats sleep apnea, snoring, nasal obstructions, and soft palate problems, performs pillar procedures and septoplasties, and refers patients for sleep studies. Dr. Macdonald is double board-certified in facial plastic and reconstructive surgery and otolaryngology - head and neck surgery. An active member of multiple medical societies in both the US and Canada, Dr. Macdonald is also an assistant clinical professor in the Department of Surgery at UCSF and the Chief of the Division of Head and Neck Surgery at Alameda County Medical Center.
