The best Japanese noodles: Tanpopo is a great little find in downtown St. Paul. Every time I eat here, I leave feeling completely satisfied and fulfilled. Service is friendly and helpful (for those of you who've never eaten in a noodle house).
Good noodles but pay for ambiance: It's a chic little modern noodle shop in a downtown building full of artists' lofts.
The noodles are definitely good and fulfilling. My wife had soba noodles and I had a nice hot bowl of udon noodles. We were both happy with the quality, portion and flavor. However, that nice bowl of udon was almost twice what I could get a good bowl of Pho for in Frogtown.
But then again, big bowl of noodles in a beautiful part of town that's fun to walk around - that's still worth some extra bucks. If it were cheaper, I'd give it a 5 out of 5.
