Ya know...I read a couple of these not so nice reviews and and I am just going to throw in my 2 cents here...

I am a former Minneapolis Children's Theater High School graduate and long time student of dance. I have my degree in Dance from the University of MN. I currently teach at Life Time Fitness and take dance at Zenon downtown as well as perform with a Minneapolis dance troupe. I teach yoga also. There are a few reasons that I LOVE EILEEN BLAKE. One is that she does not promote competition in young children. Competition is already part of who we are..why push it into the dance world of young girls? It just ruins dance for people. How many adults do you know who are still dancing??! That is why. People do not feel good enough and that's sad. We have enough competition in the world..dance should be taught as a means to move beyond comparing ourselves to each other. It's a way finding freedom (So many women in the world are oppressed and can't dance so lets dance for them!) Kids can find freedom and self expression through non-competitive dance! I'd love for my daughter to find joy in performing and moving her imperfect body and use this art form to express herself throughout her whole life! I still perform dance at 42 years old! Less sassy dance competition is exactly what I want for my daughter who is inundated with images everywhere and in media of what the perfect dancer, girl, woman, person should be. Because that perfection is unattainable people are left feeling less than what they are! I want an environment that promotes the passion for dance without the comparisons. I want a teacher who loves kids without the dancers ego. I love that she is no bones and teaches in a firm and tender way. I love her style and the end of year performances are FABULOUS and well done!!! Thank you for this fabulous service that you provide for our children, lady!!!

eileen is very moody and sometimes goes on and on about negative topics and gives speeches about them to students. they usually have nothing to do with dance. i would not recommend going there. there are much happier, more positive studios that teach better dance out there. this one is a waste of money.

I personally danced at Eileen Blake Dance Studio for more than 5 years and it was good at the recreational level only. It is not for serious dancers. Choreography is weak and dance moves are repeated in almost every class. Which is very obvious during a recital. Very little attention paid to detail and technique. I have changed studios now and my eyes have been opened so make sure to check out all other dance studios before making the decision to go to Eileen Blake Dance Studio.
