If you want a real nice place to eat and a very relaxing atmosphere..this is the place to go...very freindly waitresses...beef burritos are second to none..and very afordable meal..me and my mom went there for lunch and it came to 13.00 bucks...we try to go there at least twice a month...
I lived in Grand Forks in the early 70's. Mexican Village was one of my favorite places to eat. Every time I have had the opportunity to return to the area I stop and have my favorite the burrito smothered in gravy. Those who say it is not Mexican are food snobs. I have eaten at Mexican restaurants in Dallas, Reno, Chicago, Denver, Minneapolis/St Paul, Kansas City and many small towns. Each has different flavors and specialties. If you want all your food to taste the same try Taco Johns or Perkins. The friends I have that are Mexican eat very few of the foods we call Mexican. So go to the Mexican Village in Grand Forks without any preconceived notions about what you have decided is proper Mexican food and you will enjoy their interpretation of this cuisine. I know I can't wait to go there the next time I am in the area.
I haven't eaten at the Mexican Village for about 40 years so we decided to give it a try. That will be the absolute last time we'll eat there. The food is about as far from being Mexican as we are from Mexico here in Grand Forks. There just isn't anything good to say about it. It's bland, tasteless, horrible stuff topped with what seems to be Velveeta cheese product and being sold for food. Any fast food Mexican place serves better. Yuck!
