I had been told The Black Diamond Supper Club & Bar in Belt was a great place to eat. Here's my experience:
At 7:30 sharp my husband & I arrived at the BD for our reservation. I was surprised to see only a mere 10 or 12 tables, but I had high hopes since others had liked it so much. We take our seats, order drinks, and they are promptly delivered (my cola was even in a freshly opened can but the waiter quickly brought a glass of ice). We ordered from the nice selection of menu choices. I ordered the Prime Rib, and the hubby decided on the Surf n Turf, a NY Strip and Wasobi/Cucumber Salmon, and it wasn't 5 minutes before our soup was served with a cute relish tray served in a olive dish. Before I could finish the delicious tomato soup, the salad was served. We finished the iceberg lettuce with only dressing salad, and the wait began. We waited, and waited, and about 30 minutes pass before we're brought bread with no plates. We LOVED the bread despite the crumbs on the table, and then we wait, and wait, and....wait. An hour and a half after we had arrived the waiter says he'll check on our food. By now the place was empty, and had been for about 30 minutes. We wait again, and finally at 9:30 we get our food. *whew* The waiter apologizes and says "The owners were going to come talk to you but didn't make it over." WOW! I can't imagine feeling more appreciated. In hopes that the food would be well worth the wait, I begin the eat. It was a very healthy portion of very bland, fatty prime rib that made my hands cramp to cut. My husbands salmon was pretty decent (albeit dry), and his steak, while cooked perfectly to medium rare, was just a bland as my dish as well. *sigh* All that hype, a two hour wait in HORRIBLE broken down , porrly cushioned, cheap seating, $60.00, and honestly...I'd rather just go to Dante's or Cattleman's. I wish I could say I'd go back to the BDSC, but I'll never be making that mistake again. As for the owners wife: lovely lady, even in her short faded 80's cotton floral dress. *ouch* Sorry Black Diamond, I really was psyched, but left utterly disappointed.
