This was definitely the worst service I have had in a restaurant in years. My wife and I spent a week in Bozeman with a mind to move here from New York, and were greeted with wonderful service everywhere we went until our last night at Looie's.
We ordered a takeout order with some of our friends, who are locals. They had stopped eating at Looie's a year ago, due to rude service on two prior occasions. But as the only sushi available on a Sunday, we decided to try again. When we arrived, we were asked to wait an additional 10 minutes (past the 40 which they said that it would take). When we were then given our food, it was short two rolls. The hostess then informed us that we hadn't ordered them. When we asked to add them to the order, she walked to the sushi chef and had a discussion clearly intended for us to hear ten feet away about how much trouble it was to make our order in the first place, and how busy they were. The hostess then informed us it would take at least 15 more minutes to prepare the rolls, although it did take a bit longer. When everything finally arrived, we were informed that there was going to be an additional 15% gratuity added because our order was a take out order. We weren't informed of this over the phone when we placed our order, and it wasn't on the first bill that we received before it had to be modified. This seems a needless punishment, given the punishment of the poor service that we had already been given.
The food was pretty good. But when you're treated this bad just for ordering dinner, it really isn't worth it.
Looie's is our very favorite date night destination. We love the food, the wine, the service, and of course the sushi. Prices are a bit high, but if you like sushi, you can get a relatively inexpensive meal. They also have theme nights featuring all you can eat crab, sushi discounts, and a Sunday morning buffet breakfast. We have always been treated very well, even in the summer when we walk in in shorts and a polo. Great atmosphere, and good wine selection. A Bozeman favorite!
i don't know how to feel.: Really great food here, atmosphere was really snobbish, dont' know about that. Then there was this old guy walking around kinda stalking the waitresses, he was a little creepy. He made our server drop a glass right next to us as she was bussing the table. so would i go back there again, maybe if i was ordering it from cafe couirer.
