I love Stoney River! We have always been very happy with our meals there - excellent steak, always tender and cooked the way you want! and great vegetables, fresh, crisp, and never over-seasoned. Servers are very helpful and make sure you have what you want. In fact I have only encountered one problem a couple years ago where this ettiquete was not used by the staff. My medium rare "filet" arrived very tough. dry, and somehow marbled with fat. It looked nothing like filets I had ordered there before (or your typical filet in general) but they insisted it was and hinted that I was incorrect - they replaced it with another overcooked and tough piece of meat. All worked out in the end and I only note this because these staff members are no longer with the Deerfield Stoney River. For those who might have been turned off by a negative experience in the past - give stoney river another try, we went again last month and it was wonderful!
A local favorite of mine. I believe the restaurant is 90% booths, so if you like a booth, go here! But seriously, the service is top notch everytime. The food is very consistent, and of great quality. I love how they cook the filet (it appears to be seared in a skillet and finished in the over so it has a nice crust to it). One complaint some people do have is that the steaks can be salty. This is true. If you are sensitive to salty food, you might think twice. But I love salty food, and the seasoning they use for the steaks is perfect. The hidden gem on the menu is the coffee cured filet. So tender, so tasty, and it had just a hint of a coffee taste which was neat (and I don't like coffee!). I would not call this place one of the pricier steakhouses. It's a notch below a Gibson's or The Palm in prices. But I'd take Stoney River's filet over Gibson's anyday. If you think this is expensive, go back to Outback and stay there. Great prime rib and ribeye too here. I don't order seafood, so no comment on that (besides, how in the world could I, knowing how good the steaks are?!).
What a con!: Because of friends raving about this restaurant, I chose it as the place to have my birthday dinner celebration. It was SUCH a dissapointment, and it makes me wonder "what are people thinking?!" First of all, what kind of steakhouse doesn't have T-bones or Porterhouse Steaks on their menu?! The New York Strip I ordered had a funny flavor, and had gristle running all through it. It was amazing! The sauteed mushrooms disappointed. And they pass off mushy French Fries as Steak Fries. Someone sent this restaurant chain a dictionary. Their smoked trout dip appetizer was so runny, you could have eaten it with a soup spoon. (The two fish lovers in our party were not impressed with the flavor.) The lobster bisque was edible only. One fish lover ordered the seared tuna, and felt the spicing they used almost ruined the fish. The other fish lover really liked his bass. The cheese cake platter was good. The service was wonderful. The price was astronomical for the quality of the food. We will never go back.
