I had tasted salutos food from school when we had catering to student council. Despite that most people wanted pasta, we only had pizza, salad, and bread rolls catered.
This weekend my family decided to go to salutos for dinner since I said the food was good. We all ordered a type of pasta, and I ordered creamy garlic with fettuccini. The salad was good as I have tasted before, but all of our pastas were awful. I was atleast a cm thick all around and tasted floury. Everyone hated the food, and the plates were untouched. When I asked the waitress why it was so thick she said it was because its all homemade. Not only was the food awful but its even pricier than italian village in downtown.. an average plate of pasta=$17. It would be good to cater pizza and salad at this place but dont order anything else.
I have lived in Lindenhurst / Gurnee area now for 18yrs and Salutos was the first place we went to. Well I do believe they have changed hands and additude. We placed an order to go, the same as we had eaten last week in the restaurant, But this time the Salmon seemed old, well done and overly smelly. I had decided the to call and let them know I didnât think it was very good. The order taker was very rude, and maybe this wasnât her first bad call of the night. With hesitation she puts the manager on and I explain to him what happened, he also seemed put-off and didnât believe me. I offered to bring back the remaining portion, I guess I didnât expect him to say "sure" even if it's tomorrow at 12:pm when they open. I wonder what they would had done if I had eaten in the restaurant, would they have behaved the same way? At this point I feel very insulted and can assure you I will let people know how I was treated and that will never go there again.
Best thin crust pizza! They have pizza pans with raised bumps on them so the that crust gets crunchy and the grease runs off. You have to try the meat lovers, it's sinful!!! I think there is an entire lb. of bacon on it. And the salad dressing is homemade pesto-like dressing and it's awesome and you can buy it to take home! Save room for dessert, the carrot cake it great! Be warned though, it gets really busy on the weekends and the parking lot is shared with another restaurant and can be entirely full around 6pm or 7pm. So if you go on a busy night, be patient. The waitstaff very friendly, but really busy on weekends, so it might take longer than usual to talk with your waiter. The parking lot gets very full and is a little hard to navigate. I personally haven't tried the pasta because I can't get past the pizza and salad, so you're on your own there... but I fully recommend this restaurant, I drive an hour to eat there. Happy eating!
