User Rating: 1 out of 5 starsUnfortunately, I cannot recommend Sofa World. While my intent was to purchase a high quality, matching leather sofa set, Sofa World delivered 3 pieces of the same manufacturer's line that were manufactured 2 years apart and are made of different grades of leather. Its been almost a year since the sofa set was delivered to me. Two of the pieces are showing significant wear due to the thin leather used to manufacture them. In contrast, the one other piece is made of thicker, higher grade leather and is holding up very well. The higher grade leather in the one piece has deeper grain and even smells very different from the thinner, lower grade leather that was used to manufacture the two other pieces.
Based on the manufacturing dates and order numbers printed on the bottom of the furniture pieces, it appears the store had pieces left over from two separate previous orders and they decided to sell them to me as a "set". While the differences in leather grade were not apparent to me when the set was shown to me in the back of their store or when the set was delivered to me, it became very apparent just a few months after the set was delivered. Unfortunately, I was unable to arrive at a mutually agreeable solution with the store. Since the two pieces made with the lower grade leather no longer look presentable, I'm now in the market for a new sofa set.
In addition, in inspecting one of the pieces closer, I found a significant tear in the leather that appears to have been repaired before the set was delivered to me. While blemishes in the leather are normal, finding traces of leather repair glue in a new sofa set is not something I would expect. Not sure if this was done by the manufacturer or the store.
While Sofa World carries some nice, higher end leather furniture, my experience was extremely negative based on the unfortunate circumstances and the store's unwillingness to offer a solution. While the store may have not been aware of the mismatch in leather grade between the pieces or done anything purposely, I would expect a store to pursue customer satisfaction when a situation like this occurs instead of only being concerned with their profit margin.-

We ate Sofa World Inc. try really hard to make sure that 100% of our customers are very satisfied with their purchases. When this customer called us up to take a look at his sofa we came over right away to see what was wrong with it and what we can do to make it better. The "problem" was that the leather was kind of wavy on the seat cushion. This is in not however a defect in the leather. Leather is a natural material and it does scratch out when from a person's weight. Unlike a drum, the leather can not be tighten every time you use it. The cushion itself was not saggy and still provided the support as if it was brand new. There is only 1 way a sofa will not show wear and its if no one sits on it. All 3 pieces where in its original packaging from the Scandinavian manufacturer upon delivery and in no way where altered/fixed or glued. We were never notified of any tares in the leather. We also were never notified that the leather smelled differently. We are truly sorry that you were not satisfied with your purchase. Sofa World.
You sold me a sofa set consisting of three pieces that were made with different types of leather and were manufactured two years apart. Within a few months, just two of the pieces (sofa and chair) started showing wear in the sense that the the leather started appearing extremely baggy (wavy is an understatement). In contrast, the one other piece (loveseat) continues to looks brand new with no signs of stretching or wear. In inspecting the 3 pieces, I noticed that the leather on the two specific pieces showing wear is at least half the thickness of the 3rd piece that looks brand new. In taking a look underneath each of the pieces, I confirmed that they were manufactured under different order #s two years apart. Its bad business to sell a customer a high-quality leather sofa "set" for $3,800 consisting of mismatched pieces that were manufactured two years apart with different grades of leather and minor manufacturing variations. At the very least, you should disclose this to the customer as they should be aware that the pieces may wear and look differently over time. Furthermore, one of the pieces does indeed have a scratch/cut that seems to have been repaired. If you were truly sorry that I was not satisfied with my purchase, you would have taken more appropriate action from the beginning.
