It gets harder and hard to find places to shoot in the northwest suburbs. HP Shooting Center is a pistol-caliber only range that is fair at best. The range is poorly lit and has the worst ventilation of any shooting range I have ever been too. When I blow my nose after I shoot, my snot comes out black. The staff is literally the worst thing about this range. I feel like I am not treated as a customer and rarely have a friendly attitude directed toward me. It is the number one thing I dread most about visiting this range. On the plus side I do like the people who shoot there and have never had any run-ins with anyone there unlike some of the other reviewers. In addition, the range has gun rentals and ammunition which are both pretty fairly priced (the ammunition can run a little pricey but its a small business, cut them some slack). The place would be leaps and bounds better with a fresh coat of paint, some additional lighting, a more friendly staff, and a cleaning that would exhaust a fleet of polish maids. In addition I would like to see a website for this place to boost them out of the 80's.

The best thing about this place is that he prices the used guns fairly. New guns are on the expensive side. ($620 for a Glock 21, for example) The range has poor ventilation, but is fine otherwise. I prefer shooting at Bass Pro in Gurnee, but I prefer buying guns and accessories at places like this. He really should invest a bit into lighting and ventilation for the range. Bottom line: If you're looking for used guns, make this place one of your stops. If not...
