Iâve been to this Hackneys maybe 6 times over the last 4 years. Iâm definitely not a regular and here are the reasons why: $11.00 hamburgers, very slow service probably due to understaffing, dank musty smell in the restaurant, indifferent attitude of the staff, the old dark appearance of the dining area, and the very small selection to choose from on the menu. What do I like? The back yard area is really nice. If only they maintained the pond better; it is full of scum. We ate there last Monday and I believe that it will be the last time we do. There is really nothing remarkable about this restaurant.
On my last visit I paid over 10 dollars for a burger that has shrunk. 10 dollars for a burger that isn't kobe beef, please. A family tradition has ended.
While I have eaten at all the Hackney's, the one on Harms or the one on Lake ave in Glenview are much better on service. The Onion Ring loaf is still one of the best around, however the burgers which use to bigger then the awesome dark rye bread they serve it on, are now so small, you might find yourself asking, "Where's the beef?". At $10.95 your much better off at Ted's Montana Grill where you get a much bigger (about 4 oz's) and better burger for your hard earned money, weather it is the beef or the Bison burger.
