Taco Bell has better food than Mexico Uno!.I am very disappointed!I Tasteless food! Waste of time and first of all money!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Well i guess my review isnt that important because the owners are actually my aunt and uncle. But i can say that since i was little (i am now 20) i loved going there everybody is always really friendly from the waitresses to the cooks. And i must say i go to different mexican restarunts and nobody has good beans. i have not been able to find beans like the ones that my uncle has there. And there enchiladas are awsome if you have never tried them you should another one of my favorites is a torta with beans and cheese but you have to ask for it just with beans and cheese it is soooooo good! Well i really recommend this resturant oh and if you dont live in palatine my uncle's twin brother has another similar resturant in des plains!
This is one of my favorite Mexican restaurants. My girlfriend turned me on to this place and has been going there for years. I had never had a barbacoa (steamed beef) taco before and nervously tried it since it was on special - $1.60 each or $6.95 for a 3 taco dinner with rice and beans. Wow, the double soft corn tortillas were wrapped around moist and tender shredded beef dressed with steamed onions and cilantro - absolute heaven! They are also individually wrapped in wax paper to stay warm as you make your way through the meal. My girlfriend gets the poblano chicken with mole; again, heaven. I like to experiment with all the sauces they bring to the table for all the differing subtleties of each, including stealing some mole off her plate. But the cilantro-onion paring is enough for the barbacoa.
Atmosphere is modest but I don't care. The food is awesome. The only thing I don't like is that the picante they serve with the chips is even too hot (jalepeno-ey) for me and I don't mind hot. We order the guacamole, which always comes out promptly, so that we can mix it with it and that works out better for my slightly conservative palate.
Service is always quick and friendly; free refills on drinks too. As for that other reviewer that didn't like the chips - I actually prefer the thick chips they serve made from actual tortillas rather than the thin, overly salted, Tostido-type, gringo-style chips some more expensive or less authentic places serve.
It is located right around the corner from the drum store on Palatine road just west a couple blocks of the Metra tracks on Brockway. Go to the great Chinese restaurant nearby and ask for directions. They might say "Ees just a Brock-a-way" (ha ha).
