There are two dentists in this practice, Dr Shem and Dr Fan. I am Dr Shem's patient, and I have always found him to be gentle, considerate and careful. As a child, I had a very frightening dental experience and avoided dentists for many years, but I am comfortable going to Dr Shem. And for me, that's saying a lot!
However, I know someone who took her daughter to the other dentist in the practice, Dr Fan, and was very unhappy with his manner and attitude. I'm sure he is a very capable dentist but he may not be a good choice for children.

Don't Take Your Children Here!!!: The dentist on board is awful and is not considerate to children or the pain he puts them through. He doesn't acknowledge you as the parent nor does he tell you what he is planning on doing to your children. He started work on my 8 yr old without telling my husband or I what he was planning on doing.

My son has an extra tooth that grew out behind his front tooth and we went there to get a cleaning and get a referral to a surgeon because we knew that this would have to be surgecially removed. Instead he injected his gums to numb it. Now I was in another room with my daughter and came to trade places with my husband because she was scared and he's better at calming them down so when I went in I thought he told my husband his intentions and my son is screaming in pain.

OMG, we switched places to be with the other child again because I couldn't get my son to calm down and his upper lip sweleed twice its normal size. Then he came in and pulled my daughers tooth which did need pulling because she too had her other tooth coming out and she started crying with pain. He finishd with her and went back to my son and I go to the lobby with my daughter and hear my son screaming in pain and he calls my son a cry baby, so my husband makes the man stop and tells him that he knows the difference of a cry of pain and he is in pain and will not allow him to hurt our son. We get to the reception and told the girl we only wanted a referral and didn't expect the doctor to work on him and we left.

This doctor gave me the impression that he liked to see kid's in pain. Why didn't the shots ease the pain on my daughter or son? When he came to pull my daughter's tooth he said to her, your brother is a cry baby; are you going to be a cry baby too? I was a bit surprised but know that it's hard for my son to stop crying once he starts so I wasn't there when he tried working on his tooth the first time.

If you love your children, don't take them to that man; you will regret it.

a question: we are new at waukegan and we wanted to know the phone number of a doctor but not a dentist we wanted to know if u can help us look for a doctor here in waukegan thank u
