Personable service, good food in a roadhouse ambiance. A neighborhood place with a neighborhood bar. But all comers are made to feel welcomed.
Great food. Great people. Great atmosphere. Good location. Parking lot too small.
When I lived in the area twenty years ago, Stacy's was the best food around. On a trip back home in August, 2008, I was surprised to see the restaurant still there and oh, the food was still so good! The French Onion soup is the best I have *ever* had. The meat dishes were superb, and all the dressings are made on-site.
The food is more expensive than a diner, but it should be. This is a high-quality menu prepared by a good chef, even though dress is casual. If we lived in the area, we'd be there for a romantic tete-a-tete at least twice a month. AND if you're lucky, you'll get to meet the Stacy it was named after, the owners' daughter, all grown up now and waiting tables.
The ambience is that of a neighborhood pub, dark and cozy - there are televisions in the extensive bar - but the food is far better than pub-quality. I don't know what the crowd is like on a sports night, but when we were there, it was very subdued and, for us, verging on romantic (despite the tv's).
