Deplorable. Utterly useless. Condescending. Worst dealership experience I've had, and that includes when my parents, with absolutely no credit, would hunt around for cheap used cars, and I was tagging along.
They were sugar-sweet nice when they knew I was serious about an '05 Corolla, even though they overpriced it by about $1,000 for its miles and age. Other dealerships had far better deals than this and I intended using that as leverage for the negotiations. After they were absolutely firm on their asking price, I gave them an offer $2,000 under, firm, or we leave. The peddling salesmen left, brought the fat Mafioso financier over, sat himself down, and began to lecture to myself and my parents about the "process" behind his pricing, as if that were to convince me that their complete lack of negotiation skills were justified by their searching for other competitors prices at cars.com. Come on. His attitude represented a Soprano. Absolute disrespect for the customer in every regard.
The icing on this was their continued e-mailing and letter-sending about an '05 Camry. It reached the comical about five e-mails into the whole thing, even despite my continued attempts to get through to them that I despise their every intention to win me back and prayed to baby Jesus that they would cease contacting me.
Plainly speaking, they treat you like gold until you actually try to make a deal that's anything below what they're asking, which is blatantly high. They're unjustifiably terrible. I cannot stress enough not to go here. I would love to see this dealership close down as karma.
Go to McGrath Nissan. I did.
Mixed Review: I have been getting service at Elgin Toyota for 7-8 years. They have been reliable, and I don't think that they have recommended anything which the car has not needed. They have worked with me to keep the costs low - I use the coupons they send out.
Recently went in to do some exploratory research on a new car. My wife, 8 month old son, and I went in to look at mini-vans, as Consumer Reports rates the Toyota Sienna highly. We were greeted at the door. Unfortunately the experience went downhill after that. The salesman took us out to the lot, and then read the sticker to us! He was not very knowledgeable about the differences between models. He admitted later that he had been there only a month. Test drive was unremarkable. Got back, and wife and son went to the car since we was getting grumpy. Salesman took my contact info (took some time). Then he went to talk with the manager. After a little while, I told him that I was concerned about my son in the car (it was a warm day!), and I needed to leave. He did meet me as I was driving out, with a new price on the vehicle we were looking at.
Perhaps it is because I have not been car shopping in some time, but I was put off by the tactics here. An earlier visit to a competitor (McGrath Honda, Elgin) was a different experience. There was some pressure since it was month end. But no "I'll talk to the manager".
cumstomer service is awful: We had a terrible time dealing with these guys. After the purchase no customer service.
