Lombard Hobby is a great place to buy trains. I work with Mike mostly and he always does a great job providing me information on the hobby. He always gets my orders processed and out the door quickly. Jeff has also done a great job on one of my orders. Lombard Hobby provide great products at great prices and free shipping over $250. Even with their low prices I seem to never have a problem spending $250. I average 20 lbs of trains each time I order from them. They have saved me thousands. They are one of the great retailers in this hobby.
The guys at the club told me about their shop. I went over because they had a special on Atlas Genset for $50. I purchased one, took it home to placed on the track. I had issues with it right out of the box. I called back to the shop telling my issue. The owner told me to contact Atlas. I felt he didn't want to take back what he sold me to swap out for another engine.
I contacted Atlas and was told they had bad boards for DCC ready engines. I think he knew it and that is why he got such a great price on bulk purchase to pass along to customers. A better business practice was to tell the customer the engine may have a board issue and let the customer make the decision. Atlas is in process of sending a new board. Customer service from Atlas was great. Customer service from Lombard Hobbies was not to my liking.
As many vendors I've used over the years, he was the one who didn't offer to make it right. Overall prices are good, just test the engines before you walk out the door!
