About:Playwright David Mamet lent this theater ensemble its name when he wrote American Buffalo and the productions here are organized under the roughshod shadow of that writer's naturalistic and puritanical brand of storytelling. The home of the BTE is the Harold D. McAninch Arts Center at the College of DuPage, where it is led by Artistic Director Craig Berger. While public transportation is not readily accessible, it may be worth your while to take Metra's Union Pacific line to Glen Ellyn, then catch a cab from there.

I am amazed to be the first person to write a review about the MAC. It is a true treasure of the Western Chicago suburbs.

When my wife and I moved to Illinois about 3-1/2 years ago, we discovered the MAC almost by accident. We quickly found that the MAC is a state-of-the art venue with three theaters and and an incredible schedule of local and international talent. While there is a strong focus on jazz (our main love), we've attended fantastic shows of Irish, Scottish, and other international folk music.

The classical repertoire is also well represented with professional productions of opera, dance, and symphonic works. The Buffalo Theatre Ensemble puts on a number of terrific shows ranging from the the most current to classics like Woman in Black.

We've seen many international stars like Joan Baez and Chick Corea, as well as Richy Havens, Arlo Guthrie, and Doc Watson.

Best of all, it's close to home, the parking is ample and free, and the shows cost much less than they would be in Chicago or another major city.

How much do we like it? This year we signed up for a series of 16 performances, and will probably add a few more along the way!

Don't hesitate--just go to the MAC!
