I stopped in for dinner on a Thursday. I got there right after it opened and I was the first customer of the day. I took a seat on the patio, which was nice, although the noise of the air conditioner units in the back of the building was quite loud. The menu was large and the choices were many. I selected a combination plate (#2, I think) that had a roasted pork tamale, a chile relleno, and a steak taco. It was served with a large (half the plate) portion of rice and beans. The tamale was mostly just corn with a small amount of meat. It was very dry and I had to dunk it in hot sauce to slide it down. The chile relleno was very good. It was the typical battered and fried type chile relleno with a nice smoky flavor from roasted pepper and the cheese was perfectly melted. The steak taco was pretty bad. The steak was gristly and chewy and one bite had a very hard, almost crunchy piece of connective tissue in it. I would tolerate (and even expect) this at a cheaper, carryout Mexican restaurant, but this combo plate was $12 bucks!
Like most Mexican places they serve chips and salsa at the table. I had to ask (twice) for hot sauce since their salsa was really just pico de gallo with no heat at all. The tortilla chips were good, probably made fresh that day, but I'm not positive.
Overall it was a very average meal. Next time I am going for Mexican in St. Charles I will go across the river to El Puente.
Was OK. Had lunch there and maybe was an off day. Waiter got my order wrong and also brought me out two different beers. Food was good and patio is fun too. I would go back!
Great food- authentic: Drink some margaritas on the outdoor patio- the foods great and never had a bad waitress there.
