The Davis Street Fishmarket is one of the best seafood restaurants in the Chicago area. I should know due to the fact that I helped open the Fishmarket in 1985.I managed the kitchen and helped create the Cajun/Creole specials on a daily basis. With the help from Steve Prescott(owner and all around great friend)we turned out some of the best food on the North Shore from 1985 thru 1991. I've been in food service for over 30 years now and still think back on those years of working with "The Fun Kids At The Fishmarket"as some of the best times of my life. If anyone would like to contact me to hear more about the creation of the menu's I created over the years; feel free to contact me at kzoobob55@yahoo.com I'm currently in Kalamazoo,Mi. working on opening a new seafood restauarant/fishmarket. Just remember,Forget About The Meatloaf Mamma,I'm Commin' Home With The Crabs!!
The Rainbow Trout was perfect, reasonably priced. They poured a generous single malt scotch. Perhaps due to the current economy, there were several open tables last Tuesday night.
I found a BUG in my food the last time I was there!! My friends saw it too! The sorry manager NEVER even apologized for it. He had the nerve to ask me 'where did it come from'. Well, it came out of the KITCHEN! I had eaten about half of my halibut when I discovered it. It was disgusting!!
I later wrote a long letter to the Head Manager (about the lack of professionalism from the manager) and he NEVER took the time to respond. Lousy management!! and mediocre food!! Not worth the money!! Management doesn't care about the customers.
