WORST CUSTOMER TREATMENT !!!!
THEY SNATCH AWAY THE PLAES FROM YOUR TABLE WHILE YOU ARE EATING IT BECAUSE ITS 9:40PM and they have to close the restaurant at 10pm !!! This is just a trailer, more things follow....
The reasons are mentioned below:
1) We entered the restaurant at 9:20pm on Saturday. The official closing time is 10pm. While we were being seated, waiter told us to order quickly because the kitchen closes early. When we pointed out the official closing time as 10pm, we were told that it looks odd to display the closing time as 9:45pm, but we like to close kitchen sooner.
2) We did ordered quickly. While we were having our appetizer, the waiter just came and took our plates while we were eating it. We were shocked !!!! When we asked him why did he do this, he said if you need to eat appetizer you can have it in the entree plate. This is the WORST TREATMENT that we have ever seen in any restaurant. Later when he put the entree plates, he took away the appetizers without asking (appetizers sucked anyways).
1) No Silverware or Napkin was provided!!!!!! 1 member of our group was never provided the napkins and silverware even after the food was served (for the records, the number of people at the table never changed since the waiter seated us all). When we pointed out that silverware and napkin was missing, we were told sometimes these things happen and we should not take it seriously. Later waitress returned only with the napkins, they never bothered to get my friend the silverware (probably they don't care when a group of people is the only group in the restaurant)
I wonder how come they have such god reviews when there service is WORST EVER. I am surprised how ZAGAT gave them a good rating, or how come few reviews are good. Probably its from the restaurant people. CLEARLY restaurant can treat customers as they want, but of coz they wont be viewed as a place of good standard. I will not go again or recommend anyone to go.
BTW, I talked to friends after this and I was told, there lunch buffet sucks big time.
PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE--- AFTER MY EXPERIENCE I WOULD SUGGEST, THINK THRICE BEFORE YOU GO, SPECIALLY IF YOU ARE GOING AFTER 9PM.
Breath of Fresh Air: Compared to the usual run of Indian restaurants, Mt Everest is a breath of fresh air. It is actually a Nepali restaurant that also offers Indian favorites. Nepal's food is similar to Indian, but the dishes are less oily, less cooked, and more interesting than the standard Indian fare available on Devon.
The friendly, helpful (if a little shy) staff is mostly from Nepal, and the well-lit open space of the restaurant is pleasant and comfortable, with an emphasis on pale wood.
The lunch buffet is an especially good deal. And we once had them prepare the food for a party-- it was a big hit!
Very aromatic and delicious food: This place offers a really nice ambiance and great food with Indian and Nepali flavors. I tried the Paneer tikka, which was a little bit dry for my taste but I kind of knew that before ordering but as usual was trying to be experimental. My friend tried a chicken salad - it was delicious.
Staff was very friendly but could be more attentive to "refilling" the water. I had to ask for more water everytime.
Overall I would recommend going there. It is in Evanston so bit of a hike from Downtown Chicago - but it is the best north indian food in town.
