Fresh vegies, spot on with service and tatse of food. My wife has high standards when it comes to tasting (american) chinese food and I have ne'er heard her say... "hmm, its really good". Guess what? Those were her exact words when she tasted food from Hunan Spring
You have to understand this is a takeout joint with 4 tables. We thought it was might be a good place for dinner due to the location. Food was OK or just good, not great. Reasonable prices and lots of food. Of 5 tea cups, 2 had food particles in it. But was promptly fixed. All the food was brought at the same time, soup, egg rolls, entrees and rice. We were overwhelmed. Not enough room at the table. Hot and sour soup was average, bland and on the thin side. Egg rolls had too much cabbage and no mustard or sauce. I had to ask for a knife to cut it. Entrees were good, nothing special. All in all, would probably not go back. Better experience at Joy Yees. If you live close by and want takeout, then dont be discouraged. This place is probably good for that. Happy eating.
Evanstonâs little secret: Usually Iâm not easily surprised but this place fooled me. My first thoughts were âthis is a hold in the wall restaurant, so Iâll eat and runâ. Well, much to my surprise this place has some of the best Chinese food I had ever tasted. I dinned in and almost before I could get to my seat good my dinner was being served to me, hot and fresh and not warmed over. I had the broccoli and beef that was second to none. Whenever Iâm back in Evanston Iâll be sure to visit here again and again.
