As fast-food stores go, this is a pretty good one. The work pool is a little better in the country than in cities. Farm kids learn early on the importance of hard work and doing things right. But, kids are kids and when one pays at the lower end, when gets for what one pays.
We always check our own order when going through the drive thru. Yes, there have been several occasions when the order was wrong, just like across the street at BKing.
One gripe I have about the Dwight MickyDee's is the price point. This Mac's is higher than many we go to in Joliet, Chicago etc. Not sure why that is. Overhead in Dwight is lower than Joliet just by simple real estate comps if nothing else. So what's up w/that?
I managed the Dwight Burger King for a short time back in the 1990s. I recruited the best workers possible, always made sure the coffee was fresh and even won awards for the fastest drive through at one point (thanks to Mitch Carman and Michele Rippy, my assistants). That was the era of that store's hay day with a string of good managers that came through on their way to "bigger and better".
The Mac's at that time was no competition for dinner but owned the breakfast crowd. They had a solid management team and have always had a pretty good drive thru.
Comments about "hillbillies" are welcome. I would much rather be served by country folk than most other choices, thank you.
Fast-food restaurants are a little like automatic kitty litter boxes. They work great for a while when they're brand new. But they all need a little help to keep delivering good service later on. And after a while, they just need replacing. If not, their product tastes like ...
If you're going to spend $5/person on a meal, go across the street to Subway. Or better yet, spend a couple of bucks more and go over to Dwight Pizza and eat a 'Bella Sandwich. Yeehaw!
