I think this was the WORST experience I have ever had at a car dealership. I gave them a specific price and they tried to pressure me to make payments more than double my price. I kept trying to explain that the price was too high and if they did not have anything in my price range we were just wasting time. This did not compute and needed to be repeated several times. Also according to their website they did have cars around my price range ($10,000) that were nowhere to be seen. GO ELSEWHERE where the salesmen do not treat you like you are an embecile or try to foist crap cars off on you. Thank god I walked out, read the other reviews about the service dept and I would NEVER buy from them.

5 Stars is not enough to say how i feel about Thomas Toyota. The following people made my experience with buying a car, Jermaine, Lenny, John, George, and Pat.
I went to alot of dealers and was lied to many times by other dealerships. I called about cars they had in stock and thay would say its here when can you come in. I would go there and magically the car is not there, I heard they just sold it, or it went to auction just 5 minutes ago. Not at Thomas Though. I called and i was told i would get a phone call back within 15 minutes. well 5 minutes later i get a call and was told unfortunatly this vehicle is sold but we have a few others in this price range if you are interested. I was. so they told me about 3 other cars they had that were about $5000.00 so i decided to go in and pay them a visit. When I pulled up it was like a mad house no parking spots. well i finally found one and went into the show room. The place was packed people were everywhere. I was just about to walk out when George asked me if I had been helped yet. I said no. he proceeded to find me a table and then introduced me to the sales person jermaine. which was the person that i spoke with. So he showed me 6-7 different cars in my price range. but i was not in love. so i asked him if I could use my money as a down payment for a new car he said sure. So we looked at corollas and I found this Corolla S and he let me drive it. I was in love. we went back inside and he introduced me to his managers Lenny and John. We quickly came to an agreement on price and then i went into the business office and was introduced to Pat. when I came out My car was waiting for me inside a big room where George introduced me to my car. He gave me a full tank of gas and also entered all my radio stations in the radio for me! I have already put 5000 miles on my car. they gave me 3 free oil changes and a $50 gift card to service. what a great dealership this is. The reviewes i see here are good and bad. I guess that is what you get when you are such a busy dealership. All i know is my dealings with this dealership was wonderful. Thank You Thomas Toyota and thanks To Jermaine, Lenny, John, George and Pat.

Also they have a terrific service Dept.

Thomas Toyota Joliet can be easily proclaimed the worst dealer of USA. They have some real crook salesmen and managers, who are nothing else than a bunch of gangsters and thugs.

Before buying this Honda CRV from them, which I saw in "cars.com", I first checked with BBB, if Thomas Toyota is an accredited dealer or not, and found them there. I also thought that since this is a big group, which deals with new Toyota, Nissan and Scion cars, they will be a reliable dealer to buy a car. I wont need a mechanic to get the car verified. THAT was my BIGGEST mistake. I am a total amateur with cars, so I always had it in my mind that I will buy a used car from a big dealer, not from a private party or from small road side car dealers.

When I found this Honda CRV wth 130,000 miles, I first called them, and booked it for $500 dollars deposit using my credit card, so that they do not sell it to others. It seemed perfect to me, as it was from a big dealer, and second, the price was good. When I met the salesman (Mr. Mike Resnick), the next day, He said the car is in a superb condition and will easily go for next 100,000 miles without any problem. Infact, the "Check Engine Light" was on, while I was buying the CRV, but, he said, it was due to faulty fuel cap and it can be changed for less than 50 bucks. The car had a kicking feeling, for which he told that it was due to the muffler, which can again be
changed for a meager amount. I totally beleived him and that was my biggest mistake. Actually I never suspected any foul play with them, since they are big dealers. I bought the car for 4500 dollars.

Within a week, I bought this car, the whole picture changed. I just went to a reputed workshop in Chicago, to fix this kicking feeling out of the car, by changing the muffler, and they said the car is in real bad condition. They added that If I dont get rid of it, nobody will pay me a dime for this car, in a month, as the motor will die very soon. I was in a total shock, and I returned back to them in exact 7 days. It needed a repair for more than $4000 to change valves and major engine parts.

In exact 7 days, I returned to the dealer, and told them I cannot take this car back as it is a total Rip-off. But, they argued that its a "As-Is" and will give less value to the car, if I do a trade-in. I retaliated and said it is just 7 days, I bought the car. After much arguing, they finally agreed to give only $2500 dollars. RIDICULOUS !!! as a Trade-In !!! Thats straight 2000 dollars loss in 7 days.

Moreover, in the bill, they mentioned that they added only the esential taxes and charges. But what I later observed, is they added a Keypod of 400 dollars, which I never asked for. I never received that and still calling them regarding this. So I am stuck right now with this huge 2000 dollars loss, with nothing much to help myself.

I am just a Grad student and always wanted to buy a cheap old car so as to meet my basic convience needs. But this whole incident that I came across while buying my first car from Thomas Toyota can be easily termed as one of my worst experiences in my life.
